Last Saturday we HAD to go to the yearly El Segundo Car show and everyone shoots photos of cars- they make great pictures! But we wanted to do it at another angle so we went around and shot pics of the front end of the cards- some of them are really interesting and some are a bit funny- check it out below and see if they remind you of someone's face!

Welcome to AMAZING MEMORIES Photography Website!

This website is designed and dedicated to those people who have a digital camera and would like to know more about their camera (forget the instruction manual-some of those are hard to follow or difficult to understand). This site is also for those who would like to know more about taking photos on a digital camera and would also like to know more about what to do with the photos in the camera once the pictures are taken.

It is sometimes overwhelming to the newcomers of the digital camera. So much to learn! A person can
handle it the simple way by purchasing a digital camera, set it on autofocus and just shoot the pictures.
Well, in reality it isn't always that simple. Sometimes a person can be lucky taking photos like this.
However, sooner or later we all want to be able to take better photographs with our digital cameras!!!.

AMAZING MEMORIES PHOTOGRAPHY

As the prices of digital cameras are lowered, more and more people will abandon their traditional
35 mm cameras and take the  dip into the pool of digital photography. What they will find, as I said
before, may be overwhelming to some. Everyone needs to know that there is always that learning
curve each time we adventure into new territory. It is a bit scary and a bit exciting all at the same time.

Buying the first digital camera will be easy for some people. They will simply go to their
favorite store, find the digital camera section and ask the salesperson which one should they buy
and walk out the door with the recommended camera. Hopefully, the salesperson will be good and
set up the camera for auto-focus and equip it with a good memory stick. Unfortunately,
digital cameras are being sold everywhere now and a lot of these stores are ill-equipped with a knowledgeable salespeople to adequately handle a proper sale to a newbie.

What is a person to do? First, ask friends, relatives, work teammates or anyone that has a
digital camera and who has some recommendations. Listen to them when they tell if they like or
dislike their current digital camera. What types of photos do they take? Are they the type that have a
camera with them all the time and are shooting pictures of anything and everything? Or are they the occasional photographer? How much did they figure out on their camera? Or are they still trying to
read the manual? Also, ask them what type of memory card does their camera take
(there are few different types/sizes) and how much memory does their memory card(s) hold.

KISS - No, we aren't throwing anyone a kiss. This is the acronym for -

Keep it Sweet and Simple!

For those who wish this type of procedure-the KISS principle- here it is

We didn't say it was short, sweet and simple (that sounds like someone we know!)
so a bit of homework will need to be done beforehand. First do what was recommended in the
paragraph above. Ask acquintances about their digital camera experiences. Next, if you are
internet savvy enough to do an internet search that is where you can gain a lot of information
quickly. www.google.com is one of the best  search engines and easy to use. Simply input the
words, compare digital cameras, in google's search area and see if you can find
(on the first page only-remember you wanted to keep it simple) a comparison of the "point and
shoot" cameras (keeping it simple) by a non-biased company.

After doing research with friends and relatives and the research online,It is time for  shopping!
Where to shop is another question. Just keep in mind that if a camera needs to go back to the
store you purchased from for any reason, will the store be there to help ith your problem?
Buying from a reputable store whether in person or online is very important. Most cameras
have warranties. Some have extensive warranties and some have very weak warranties.
Sometimes it is worth it purchasing the extending warranties offered by some stores just to
simplify things (oh there we go again, KISS !).

When the camera is purchased, remember to purchase the following items that are a must to
operate your camera efficiently:

Memory card - Be sure the correct one  is given for the camera (there are several types)
and buy at least a 1 GIGABYTE (roughly a billion bytes) -  go on vacation and take
anywhere from 500-1000 pictures -of course depending upon how the camera is set up to take the photos- from low resolution/size to high resolution/size.

Batteries : Find out what kind of batteries the camera needs. Some come with a NIMH battery
pack that will last longer than regular AA batteries. Other cameras take the double A batteries and these are fine too. It is highly recommended to also buy a charging unit and purchase rechargeable batteries. Always keep an extra set of batteries on hand with your camera just in case!

Camera bag - This is so important! Think Protection! Get one that fits the camera with enough
room to store extra memory cards and extra batteries (warning!!! don't store your memory cards
and batteries on top of each other as batteries have been known to erase memory cards!).

Tripod - if considering a lot of photographs taken with the zoom feature of the camera or taking
nite shots, it is advisable to get a decent, easy to set up fast, tripod.

Now, before leaving the store and after purchasing the camera, get the salesperson to help place
everything in the camera and get it ready to operate. Have them help insert the batteries and memory card and set up the date and time. Also, have the salesperson help set up the resolution of the photos .
If  any photo is expected to be enlarged into a very large photo, use a higher resolution setting. If not, just have the salesperson set it at the lowest setting and to enable more photos to be saved on your memory card. Also, get help in setting up the auto-close feature that most cameras have. When the camera is on
for a certain period of time and no one is taking pictures, the camera will turn off automatically
to save battery life. A very good thing!

Next, take pictures!
Take the camera and aim at the subject - press the camera's shutter button (photo taking button)
but only half way down and pause- this allows the camera's focusing computer to set up- then proceed pressing the button all the way down but wait, wait wait.....this is the hardest thing to learn!!! Don't
move as soon as you start pressing the button. Some cameras are quicker than others but you must remember to hold the camera absolutely still until you see the photo appear on the LCD screen.

Now, onto getting the photos from the camera's memory card to someplace else.
Where someone asks?

Well, there could be several ways someone could do with their photos. Depending on whether
a person wants to store the photos on CDs or in their computer or print out the photos. If printing
is the option then of course one would need a color printer. A lot of color printers are also photo
printers (such as Epsons whose photos last a long time due to their non-fading inks) and they also
have ports to insert the memory cards. This is a handy feature. Otherwise if the printer doesn't
have the memory card capability then one would need to hook the camera to the computer and
open the photos from there and print them.  For those who want to store them to review them
later and pick their best ones to print, then the option of uploading to the computer for storage
is another way. Again if the printer has the memory card port, the card should be inserted and
a screen appears (on windows XP) asking what was to be done with the photos. One could
choose to copy the photos from the memory card to the computer or to move them to  the
computer. Since the memory card needs to be wiped clean in order to go out and shoot hundreds
more photos, it is a good idea to move the photos (or you could keep them in both places until
finished with doing what is need with the photographs on the computer and then go back and
delete the photos on the memory card -careful not to delete the wrong ones).

NO MORE PRINTING ALL THE PHOTOS AND TAKING LONG     PERIODS OF TIME ARRANGING THEM IN PHOTO ALBUMS YOU WILL ONLY PUT AWAY ON A SHELF & FORGET THEM!!!

More about what to do with your photos-
Burn them on CDs, get photo editing software and resize and print a few for gifts complete
with frames, make calendars and insert your favorites, make a slide show presentation. Of course
we were speaking of the KISS principle!!!  So in keeping with this principle why not collect all
the favorite photos and burn them on a CD and send them to AMAZING MEMORIES!! The DVD Photo Slide Show Video of  these photos will put the WOW factor in there and kick it up a notch!
